- Serves as an informational and educational resource to its members, AOA entities, the public, and the media on contact lenses, anterior segment, and refractive technologies.
- Provides advisory services to AOA members relative to new clinical procedures, products and services, and clinical alerts on contact lenses, anterior segment, and refractive technologies.
- Provides ongoing liaison to manufacturers, organizations, and associations regarding contact lenses, anterior segment, and refractive technologies.
- Provides a forum for doctors who have a special interest in contact lenses, anterior segment, and refractive technologies.
- Publishes informational newsletters, surveys, and other publications for its members and sponsors an annual sections' symposium.
- Initiates and coordinates activities, educational programs, and projects which will enhance the utilization of professional contact lenses, anterior segment, and refractive technologies.
