Consumer Survey

Since 1992, the American Optometric Association (AOA) has periodically conducted Public Image Surveys - now known as "Consumer Surveys." The primary purpose of this study is to identify key aspects of the American public's decision-making process in selecting professional eye care services, and in selecting optometrists in particular. Specifically, the survey has been designed to reveal the following:

Reasons the American public seeks eye examination services from eye care professionals; public preferences for acquiring eye examination services from optometrists versus ophthalmologists; reasons underlying the choice of the specific eye care professionals who conducted respondents' most recent eye examinations.
