Make Preventative Vision Care For Children a Top Health Care Priority (S 259/HR 577)

Preventing vision problems and maintaining healthy eyes for all children must become a public health priority. About 25% of school-age children suffer from undiagnosed vision problems, the most prevalent disabling condition in childhood.  Yet, today, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), less than 15% of all preschool children receive an eye exam and less than 22% of preschool children receive some type of vision screening.
